Crankshaft Pulley

Crankshaft Pulley
The crankshaft pulley of my less than 3-yr old XF broke recently, rendering the steering wheel to be practically inoperable. While Jaguar replaced it under the arranty terms, I am still unsatisfied, and concerned about the problem. This incident happened while I was parking my car when I had reached home, but what would have happened if I was driving on the highway with my family onboard? Jaguar said the steering wheel would have been operable when driving at speed, that it is inoperable only when the car is stopped. I am wondering if this is true, and if anyone else has encountered this problem?
