Creative Cooling hoses?

Creative Cooling hoses?
Does anyone know why someone may have gone to all this hassle? See the two cooling hoses on top of the engine. My only guess is that they wanted an easy way to flush the system without taking anything apart elsewhere... but I wanted to see if I could take out these extra leak points and put in the proper hoses. These almost look like they're stepping down the hose size.... I'd check the parts book but evidently there is none floating around, besides that one vendor catalog that keeps popping up on my searches
Any info is appreciated!

I think it is just going cheap, not bothering to get the original Jaguar hoses after they broke a connector or two ... seen this solution various times here on the island .
I bought mine (incl. all cooling hoses) from the Jaguar dealer (at minus 30) and they were not too expensive, not sure how that compares in the US.

My guess would be that someone just didn't want to spend money on original hoses once they got broken. After a while they tend to get hard and are easy to brake while working on the engine- don't ask me how I know
I just replaced those two on my car, the parts number are MNC4582AC and MNC4583AC. I got both original Jaguar hoses for an equivalent of 50$
You can find all the numbers for parts here

We have 2 great forum sponsors SNG Barratt and Jagbits. You can click on the link to SNG Barratt and download their catalog for the XJ's. It will have a complete diagram of the factory lines along with part numbers. You can then search around for the best price. The hoses that were replaced were originally plastic and do get brittle and have a tendency to break while removing them.

Replaced a full set on my higher mile R about 2 years ago -- the old ones still had flex and did not snap when I played with them off the car. Most likely not really needed. Have the set for the second car, will do with the coolant refresh in a month or two.
The failures seem to occur while servicing -- leaning on them or moving/ removing them while taking out the tank.

No, i literally opened the package and that was the shape. There was a bit of a pinch that was due to shipping (I'm pinging the vendor on that, as it was due to the packaging)...but overall, it just seems too long.. if I straighten it out by the coolant filler, then it just makes it more obnoxiously long by the water pump, and vice versa. This is jag part MNC4582AC , which I do see had some superseded part numbers in its history... but there's not much I can get creative with here: hard line with a 90 degree bend on one end, hard line with a 90 degree bend and a special connector on the other... just too much line in the middle
