Good advice. Do not start measuring the current draw from the battery on any scale lower than 10 Amps, otherwise you will just blow the fuse in your multimeter. and it will do nothing. When the current flow shown on the 10A scale drops below the next scale, you can switch over to it. If the next scale is, for example, 400 mA, then you can only switch to it when the 10A scale shows less than 0.4 A. But, before switching, you have to bridge the multimeter probes (kept connected to the battery circuit) with a piece of wire and remove the wire when the switch-over is done.
