Damaged ZF filler plug....UPDATE
#1

Well chaps, I finally removed the butchered
filler/level plug from my ZF transmission!
After a lot of effort and a various assortment
of tools and methods, I finally resorted to good
ol' fashioned brute force and BFH (Big F**ing Hammer) ;o)=)
I found a neat little cold chisel that I was able to belt
into the plug hole and then fitted an 8mm socket
attached to a ratchet and gave it some heave ho!
Low and behold....crack!!
It gave way and I was able to unscrew the damn thing!
Why oh why is it that people always choose to do things
the lazy way!
If whoever did this in the past had of used the correct
tools, it would have saved a lot of grief down the track!
It also didn't help that some idiot used thred lock on the plug!
Anyhow, it allowed me to fit the ME Eurosport remote
dipstick kit that I've had for a while and only needed minor
tweaks to fit nicely.
This means that now I can check the fluid and do quick
changes just like a conventional transmission.;o)
The major difference from factory spec is that the fluid
is now checked at the normal full engine temp. instead of
having to use the 30-50 deg. range and check at plug hole
arrangement.
The full saga is depicted in my photos on Power Base ;o)
