Reviving a nice old thread! After reading through i could not resist giving this a try myself. I did not fallow the instructions exactly but i have no doubt the result is the same.
The difference: the butt dyno says so! 70-110 is the new 70-90. over 3500 Rpm you hear SC wine, The power does not feel flat at high rpm, Much better rev's, car feels like it cruses with less pedal, accelerating on the highway is much much better then it ever has been. Recommended Mod to anyone who wants a faster Jag. Many thanks to Dan Hiat and Water Dragon for this thread!
For anyone interested this is what i did:
Silicone rescue tape around the TB to fit the 90 degree, Same as Waterdragon
90 degree elbow form Silicone intakes
6'' 3.5'' tube from spectre performance cut to 5'' long
90 degree elbow
metal jointer
2' 3.5'' tube cut to length at maf
Breather: i used a black aluminium boat thru hull fitting from Thrasher Products . 3 4" Hose Through Hull Fitting Straight Through Discharge | eBay
tube support: i used the 1'' i cut off the 6'' tube and inserted into the long tube to act as support (the single hose clamp after the breather in the 1st pic). I might add more support to the tube latter on.
Maf: wraped the intake side with silicone rescue tape until i could fit the hose one.
Adapter 3.5-4'' attached to maf (i am currently using a metal jointer and left over 3.5'' tube because amazon sent me measuring spoons instead of the 4'' pipe)
4'' dia 4'' long tube from spectre
Spectre intakes filter 9732 inverted cone top 8.75'' long.
Clamps; norma 80-100mm clamps and an ABA 316 ss 75-102mm .5'' band clamp on the tb. The normal style one the breather will be replaced with a norma once the mail arrives
I wanted the stand off between the maf and filter to hopefully reduce any turbulence. have not checked fuel trims but everything works great so far. I will redo my filter isolation barrier in plastic, but it works perfect until then. The car Heat soaks very fast with out the barrier and i would not recommend this mod with out a barrier or air box of some sort. Of course zero issues once the barrier is installed. I got all my stuff from Silicone intakes, amazon (spectre stuff), Mcmastercarr, and ebay (breather fitting). Very easy weekend project!
More to come: Gen 5 SC and low Mi diff (new output bearings)

Looks great! Any reason not to use a 3.5" aluminum tube for the longest section? Seems like it would eliminate the need for a support insert...and for some reason, the aluminum tubes are much cheaper than silicone on siliconeintakes.com.
I'd also like to see a deconstructed view of the heatshield if possible.
This is on my to-do list. I wonder if the same measurements and angles apply to the XKR's engine bay...

@Majik Lasers; if i was going to do it again or make another that's exactly what i would do. I was thinking if i did the 1' long tube i would have to buy the 2' long silicone tube anyway to fill in the gaps. I think you could do away with buying the 2' silicone tube all together but i need to take some measurements to be sure. The only draw back is you have a smaller inner dia then the silicone tube.

I think Jaguar did it first actually. I forgot the car magazine (pre-internet)
They did a story on that wild XK8. I forgot what it was called...XK180! That was the first time I had seen it and I remember how modern and beautiful the engine looked. The intake in particular.
When I got my first VDP (308) I tore though the house looking for my old car magazines. Finding where she put the boxes and then spending a few hi ours trying to find the one issue that had it. I couldn't wait to rip that piece of disgusting crap factory intake off my beautiful Jaguar. Biggest bang for the buck....ever!

Paramount offered the elbow in the 90's along with other UK Jaguar specialists.
