Default Dash Rattle

I have a rattle in my dash. Traced it to a loose defrost vent(right section). Any clue how to tighten this up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was troubled by that for two years before I realized it was the vent. I bought a pack of baize from a hobby store and stuffed a folded piece in front of the vent. That was a year ago and no rattle since.

Always wondered what baize was.

The vent duct is attached to the dash with adhesive. Many if not most have come loose by now.

I know what I'm doing this weekend!!

Hey OP - you're "fairly" close. Want to meet up and try to knock it out together?

Someone else on the forum reported using a piece of 5/32" rubber tubing, forced between the windscreen and the dashboard to fix the rattle. I've just done that and it worked a charm. Completely invisible from outside the car, and you have to look very hard to see it from inside.

Anything that cannot be fixed with a large 3lbs sledge is an electrical problem. (grin)

I get a really annoying rattle, not from the dash though, its from the passenger seat belt socket.

The weird thing is, it only happens after my mother has been in the car, nobody else has managed to reproduce it.

Have not a clue what she does, but every time it rattles after she gets out and I have to fiddle with the red bar to quieten it.
