The radio systems have the capability of playing dead in case they are stolen and/or power is removed from the radio. Most North American cars have this feature disabled but yours may be enabled. You will need the correct code to turn it back on. A dealer should be able to supply that code based on your VIN and disable that feature if you choose. As an alternative I would write the code on the inside of the hood/bonnet.

The code is requested on the screen and entered via the keypad, so you first have to find why the HU won't power up.
I have noticed that sometimes after the power has been disconnected from these units it is necessary to hold the on button in for a few seconds before they fire up.

I understand about entering the codes that I have but I can't even get the screen to light up. Is the thing "blocked" or is there a way to enter the codes that I am not aware of?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am new in this forum and had the same problem in the same year/model Jag. How did you finally solved the problem?
