I have a 1998 XJR with 85,000 miles, in very good condition. They want me to do the following:
1. Replace lt. & rt. lower ball joint assemblies for $1,705.12
2. Replace upper shock mounts for $1,378.88
I just enrolled on this site. Do any of you have suggestions on: should I do these? and how to buy the parts for less than they charge?
Thanks

I suggest you find an indie, or learn to do some work on your own. They are changing assemblies, rather than replacing bushings, and they are gouging you. That car is worth less than $10k and they want 30% of the value for a front end rebuild. I paid $395.00 for the same parts. Check CoventryWest or www.britishparts.co.uk.

Yikes!
Ball joint:

Shock bushings:

Both must be pressed.
