Default Decent Boost Gauge, Oil PSI etc?

Hey all,
I'm getting my ECU tuned on my XJR soon and would like to monitor things a little more closley. Do any of you have any suggestions on a not so flashy gauge pod and gauges? Autometer and companies like that have options but any real world experience from anyone out there with an XJR/XKR?

No . . . but inquiring minds would certainly like to know any quantitatively measured change in the car's performance. There has been several discussions but all reports have been subjective. Some report improvement, some report disappointment.

I've just fitted a Prosport electronic fuel pressure gauge to my XJS. After hours of contemplating where to put it I just couldn't see how you could merge "modern" with olde world Jaguar so I finally fitted it in the centre cubby. The gauage has a audible warning feature so if my fuel pressure is less than the setting, it beeps, so in theory I don't need to look at it all the time. I've been using the gauge to diagnose a starting problem I have (losing fuel pressure after sitting for a while) which is done when the car is stationary so having it in the cubby is acceptable.

Having got bitten by the gauge bug, I was also thinking like you to add some to my XJR so I played around with the fuel pressure gauge in the XJR before I fitted it into the XJS. Summary was I could not find a place where it would go without the car looking like a rice rocket. The ONLY thing I did come up with would be to remove the centre vent panels (with the clock in the middle) and somehow replace the vents with 4 45mm gauges. This would then kind of resemble the style of the earlier cars (E types, Mk2s, early XJs, etc, ie

Obviously this would require fabricating a new panel from scratch, and you would lose your airvents.

Sorry, not much help.

PS : Also would be interested in the results of your ECU upgrade. My local Jaguar mechanic spent 15000USD adding go faster parts to an XKR based on the owners requests and the outcome was that the car was defeintely faster overall, but it moved the powerband from low down to high up, so you had to rev the nuts off it most of the time to get the true performance, which kind of spoiled the character of the car, anyway, let us know how you get on

I'm thinking just mount them where the current clock and surrounding gauges are.

I only use Autometer gauges in the race car, the Suburban and my nissan.
here are some pics of the dash and A pillar I did in the Suburban. I also did a new center console from scratch last year to replace the center jump seat, and converted to a floor gated shifter from the column 1.... with before n after pics

Did you ever resolve the boost gauge issue? If you have not, it may help you to take a quick glance at mine at the Photo Gallery here.

What you want is a Defi-Link Display, a Defi-Link Control Unit, and the appropriate sensors.
You'll then have all the info you desire in a compact and classy digital display unit.

In a friend's Z...
