Deer 1, XJR 0.
I swerved to miss a deer the other night and spun the best XJR in the US into the roadside bushes. Cosmetic damage, still runs and drives like new.

(Cue Wile Coyote.............) Dynomite, trebuchets, pits and traps.
I have had enough time to be heartbroken at the loss of this perfect, pampered Jag.
But when you open the exhaust cut-outs, she is a beast that makes me feel like a teeenager again.
Maybe a track car? She did well at Road Atlanta.

Yes if the car's as billed & I'm sure it is, that's indeed a steal. I gave my son a modest 1st car budget & depending on the body work needed I'm sure I can get everything in under it. My new found body shop guy is now infatuated w/ X308s so I'm sure I'll get another great rate if I decide to pull the trigger.

It does sound like an amazing car. I’m sorry that happened. I missed a deer once by probably two inches. We have so many around here in Washington state. And I agree, the price is too low.
I’d love to get VDP tray tables for mine. They must’ve been from a junked VDP, right? We’re they very much to buy? Were they difficult install?

Glad to hear so many interested in saving it. Don't know about the idea of giving it to a 16yo tho. Maybe if you make him hammer out the dents and fix it all by himself. That's how I got my first car tho mine wasn't anything near as cool as an XJR. It was a late model wrecked economy car that my father towed home and told me "Son, if you can fix it, you can drive it." If I were king or dictator, that's how everyone would have to get their first car. If you made him fix it himself, he'd be a whole lot less likely to take unnecessary risks with it and even if the experience didn't start a life long car hobby, the education would save him literally tens of thousands of dollars in car repair bills over his lifetime.

My son's first car was a '91 Miata basket case we bought when he turned 14, but he took his driving test in my 420 HP 6 speed Mustang and passed on the first try.
I advocate letting a kid drive a car he knows can kill him if he screws up. They learn pretty quick not to go through life @ WOT. Kids that get barges, 100 HP crap boxes or SUV's never learn those lessons.

They can still get in trouble with low powered cars, even trying things its not really powerful enough to do. Besides making them do their own repairs, take them to do autocross at an early age, and even do it when its raining. They can't hit anything but an orange cone (or a corner worker who isn't paying attention, but hey, they signed a waiver ). They'll quickly learn what a car can do and what it can't and then they won't try it on the street not because of any fear (teenagers will always be invincible), but rather they'll remember how embarrassing it was when they messed up on the course.
