Disintegrated door handle gaskets

Has anybody found a good solution for these XJ's disintegrating door handle gaskets? I don't really care that the rubber is falling apart, but whenever it rains something in the rubber combines with the water and causes unsightly white streaks down the door. It seems to require buffing to remove too.
Does anybody know of maybe some rubber adhesive or tape to tape around the handle? Thanks.

YES!!! I was waiting to do a right up on this but. . . The tape is a rubberized 1/8" thick solution that can be stretched around corners. It can be found at Home Depot, most likely on an end cap. If you ask about it you will most likely get the famous blank stare of HD customer service so you will have to do some searching. Cut it into strips about 6-8mm wide I used an electric scissor. Makes it look like it was one clean cut. Also clean the surface you are sticking it to.

I recently repainted the car and the body shop suggested replacing the handle gaskets.
I got them from Welsh Enterprises and they look and fit great. Just like the originals were 16 years ago. They are sold in pairs. Front and rear are the same set. It is a rather complicated seal. Not just a flat piece of rubber. Worth the money. Replace the door handle cable while it is all apart and save yourself double work. Welsh enterprises sells that part as well.
