DIY Throttle Body take out; Do able?
So I have been having throttle body issues and have been shopping around on ebay looking for used ones, but have decided I am going to just send mine to ASI to get repaired (with lifetime warranty yay!)
I am looking for a DIY guide to taking out the throttle body (1999 Xj8 the latter half of the year throttle bodies). I am a complete noob and have done little to no work on cars before.
Is it simple enough that a nooby and his buddy can do it?
Is there a guide that involves all of tools required (preferably with pictures ofc).
I attempted to search through the forums, but didn't have much luck. Thanks
Jayneld

Disregard! "The hardest part is the removal of the black vacuum line. IIRC, push in on the black collar, while pulling out on the hose. Many people break this line, so be gentle."
That was my original reply, but I just looked at my parts car and realized the vacuum line remains in place. It's pretty easy, 4 bolts, two coolant lines an electrical connector or two, and the throttle cable. Good luck.

I removed and replaced the throttle body on my 2000 XJR and it was VERY easy. Just make sure you have a rag handy to catch any leaks from the coolant hoses.
One thing to check before you send it away is make a note of the resistance values across the pins at closed and wide open, so that you can re-calibrate your repaired TB to the same (or similar) values.
When my TB was returned from ASI the plug had been rotated all the way to the left, and we had to loosen the screws and move it closer to the centre before it would work properly.
It may not be an issue with yours, but better safe than sorry!
