Can someone tell me what is the part in this picture and does it look broken?

It's the wiper motor, can't tell if it's broken

Yes I know it is the wiper motor what is on it's right

I have this cable which is not connected i do not know if it should be and to what?

Not sure but it could be for the heated front screen, can you read the part number on the green harness sticker?
My guess? replacement screen wasn't heated, nothing to plug in, left dangling...

Hope this clears it up.

Nope, the windshield connectors are much bigger than that.

I will try to get a better read on the cable I'd number tomorrow

Any idea on what is next to the motor on the right with the wiring?

My wiper motor in my 99 XJ8 looks the same

How many wires go to this connector and what color are they?

Can we have more information on your car? what model, displacement, year?
(fill in your car details on your member page for instance, helps a lot when asking about it)

There are a lot of variations between model years 97-02. The pictures are not clear enough for me to i.d. The link lead part number would help.

Rob, I mentioned it could be the screen heater loom because of the grey colour and defence tape on it, any other suggestions?

Thanks to everyone for your help

I have found a picture of the motor assembly and it is the same.

Now I need to find out about the loose wire connector

It looks like one of the lambda sensors connector; check on the top of the gearbox(engine-bellhousing area), there must be some connectors there, fixed by a metal bracket (mines here, have four connectors, due to late Euro 3 engine, yours may be early type with only two).
