My 2003 XJR does the same thing.
Of course in the Auto Entry/Exit mode the steering wheel tilts up... but the seat moves ALL THE WAY BACK TOO!!! Makes it impossible to get out of the seat when it's in the trunk! :-)
I've turned the Auto Enter/Exit switch off and I programed 2 of my 3 seat settings to get me in and out from behind the wheel.
I'd like to know what I'm missing with the Auto Entry/Exit too.

The knob on the steering column activates the memory seat controller to move the steering wheel up and out of the way and to also move the seat back.
It is tied into the key fobs -- so you can have memory automatically go to an "A" and "B" position depending on the key.
I drive with the seat all the way back so mine does not move when I drive it -- saves having to move the seat back to get in the car.

That is of course, if there are no electrical problems like failed seat potentiometers for instance.
Cheers,

If your column knob is set to "Auto", the seat should move backwards to the entry position when the key comes out of the ignition barrel. When the key is reinserted, it should move back to the forward position or the position corresponding to the remote that unlocked the car.
That is of course, if there are no electrical problems like failed seat potentiometers for instance.

The goal of the entry/exit mode is to make it easier to get in/out, moving the seat backward would defeat this purpose.
Since I drive with the seat all the way back, I had to check the owner manual and it what it said. Just steering column

On the X308,the entry/exit mode do NOT move the seat, just the steering column.
