I was going to jack both my Jags up and check for myself, but does anyone know if the rear bracket / Anti-sway bar mount / Anti-sway bar from an XK8 will bolt onto an XJ8?
I didn't own my XJ the last time I ran across and XJR in the junkyard. but there seems to be lots of people parting out XK8's locally
My XJ8 has got a mild shock mount clunk, so I know there is a weekend dedicated to the rear suspension in my future. While its up in the air, I'd like to put a rear anti-roll bar on it..
There was a discussion a number of years back I was involved in that evolved into sway bars. The thing was my Vanden Plas (XJR CATS suspension) didn't have a sway bar, but another member did...I don't recall their year or X308 version. The Q was why one did one have and another not?...it was never answered. So I would question 2 things, ...1-will that X308 have a sway bar and 2-wil it fit on yours? If I recall, the mounting patterns were different also. Food for thought...
The SWB 2002 XJR at the Junkyard that I pulled the alternator & 13" front brakes/front hubs off of had a rear anti-sway bar, but it was crushed about 4 months before I bought my XJ8. Driving my XJ8, I constantly am thinking "this thing could use a rear sway bar"

Not sure Highhorse, but I think it is just the VDPs that don't have the rear sway bar?
If I am reading correctly the poster has an XJ8 and wants to install and XK8 rear anti sway bar. ?? If so then it will not work. First the XJ8 doesn't have a rear sway bar only the XJR has one. If he has an XJR the XK8 still will not work, the wheelbase is not the same.
If he is asking if the brackets for the bushings are interchangeable they aren't 2 different diameters for bushing and bar.
Ungr, if your XJ is not equipped with a factory sway bar you will need to replace your wishbone tie with one that has a provision for one from an XJR or XK.
The XK sway bar does fit an XJ and is two MM larger with a slight design change (17mm vs 15mm).
To confirm avern1's post, looking at the parts lists, it does not list a rear sway bar for the XJ8 or XJ8 VDP, only for the XJ8 SC (and three different front sway bars XJ8 comfort suspension, XJ8 sport suspension, and SC)

By "bracket" I meant the wishbone tie bracket. This swap looks totally feasible as there are lots of people parting out XK8's on Craigslist and I'm sure the rear sway bars aren't a hot item.
Found an XK8 rear swaybar on E-bay for $35 shipped... That's like "$15+shipping". Rockauto had links on closeout for $1.50 each, now I just need brackets and bolts. The whole projects looks like its going to come in under $130.
I put in my new Rear Bilstein shock today and while the springs were out I attempted to swap in my XK8 tie bracket but I ran out of daylight, so I bolted everything back together. It just didn't want to slide onto the tie mounting studs:
I'm going to grab some XK8 Tie Studs from the junkyard and verify they are the same. The parts catalogs say they are, but was very tricky trying to bolt the XK8 tie bracket on. It did not want to go onto the Studs
Maybe next time I'll disconnect the exhaust pipe mounts and drop the entire rear end out to have more leverage.
