Default Downsizing tires

Tired of paying $200 a tire and putting a lot of miles on my 03 xjr With factory 18s by commuting to school so I have decided to downsize the wheels to 16s. My dads 03 xj8 is only $80 per tire. Looking for aftermarket 16s of same width as xj8 in black with maybe a silver lip. Anyone know any sources? My car is the regular xjr so I believe 16s from xj8 would fit with stock brakes.

I'm using P215 60R 16 on mine.

My advice, buy a nice set of OEM Jaguar wheels second hand. I've never had or heard good reviews on aftermarket rims on these cars. You might even find some Jag 16"s with decent tires on. Try eBay.

I've heard that 18" is the smallest rims that will fit on the XJR due to the brakes. Have I been misinformed?

I've heard this also, but it would depend on rotor size, if fitted with 355mm discs at the front and 350mm at the rear, 18" is the rim, but if standard discs of 325mm then you could fit smaller rims.

I believe this is the issue with the xjr100 and r1 packages due to larger brakes, but wanted to double check with this thread.

I use a set of 17" from a late 90's XK8 for my winter set with snows - so they will work.

Check with a local dealer -- mine still had quite a few take offs from people switching out the OE's for wires. They had a full set for $300.00.

16" will NOT fit on the front of the XJR even without the Brembo brakes. I've tried it. They will fit on the rear though. You need at least 17" for the fronts.
