Drive cycle for Cat test

Drive cycle for Cat test
Hi,
I was given a 1999 XJ8 to "look after" for a friend. In order to complete registration I need to smog it here in San Diego. The only error code is P1000 as the cat emissions test has not completed, all the other tests have run.
I drove on the highway today for 5 mins @ 2000 rpm several times. In fourth gear, in drive, with the AC on and off. None of that would get it to cycle.
Is there a known drive cycle that will get the Cat test to run?
Thanks for any help.

See enclosed document as a reference.
If it does not set after some trials, it might be worth to check if there are any error codes stored, they might indicate a problem preventing the setting.
My car sets after some 20 minutes of various driving, the cats normally the last, and only after some constant highway driving.

From my experience with X308/X100 XJR's and XKR's it can take anywhere between 100 - 350 miles of various city/highway driving for the cat cycle to complete. There was one time it took 500 miles for my OBD2 cat cycle to complete, but I found a vacuum leak at the purge valve shorty after, which probably contributed

Hi,
Thanks for the responses.
The EVAP has run, it is only the CAT that is left to run.
The MAF cable was disconnected once when i started the car, that threw 5 codes.
I reset them, then ran for a dew days. All diagnostics except CAT ran, then a knock sensor code appeared. I changed that, cleared codes, and am back to driving it. I have maybe 100 miles on it since the last code reset. i thought 10-15 minutes freeway driving would be enough, so i may be expecting too much.
I will try running Eric's drive cycle a few times, and see if it will run and pass or fail.
The only code showing on my reader is P1000, which means not all tests have run.

P1000 is a pending code and they do not cause a smog fail.
However, it means there is at least one unset (aka incomplete) monitor (I realise you know this part!) - and that is what can be a problem.
Many places allow one (sometimes two) unset monitors.
Some are rather picky (CA!) and allow one unset but over time change which one(s) they allow!! Yes, even for old vehicles. Hard to believe but true, sadly.
They also may make it really hard to find the actual rule about this
(I'm busy trying to find it...) OK, I think it's
http://www.bar.ca.gov/pdf/Smog_Check...te_Version.pdf
and says you can have any one incomplete monitor.
Unless your 1999 is a 2000MY.
