Default Drive Shaft Removal in order to get to fuel lines

good evening fellow members- I am attempting to replace fuel pumps on my 2000 xjr- and have decided to follow the tank removal method- in searching the forums I have found great advice and instructions- some of the instructions call for removing the drive shaft and the brake cable in order to get better access- has anyone had any experience with the drive shaft removal- I have seen posts that reference marking it - can anyone expound on that - I am hoping to get some better directions how to handle that driveshaft situation before I tear into it - thanks for any all help. Cole

You can disconnect the propshaft from the diff and handbrake cable threaded rod to gain more access. Just position them out-of-the-way.

If the splined section will collapse enough to remove the rear JURID connector, then leave the center carrier alone. The U-Joint will allow the shaft to tilt out of the way.

Bob thanks for the information- one additional question I have read about marking the fitting - I am not clear on that should you mark a specific hole or mark the jurid for a specific way it goes back together- thanks for all of your help - Cole

Marking the flange is about propshaft balance. I don't really worry about decades old cars with wear and distortions in the JURID coupler being a concern.

You can mark it if you want.

Thanks Bob I want to do it right and dont want to over complicate what is already a challenging job getting the tank out and getting the hoses disconnected from the tank seems to be a challenge without a lift- I am putting it up on jack stands to support and going underneath- thanks to you and the forum I will have a lot of good advice to get it taken care of. Thanks again Cole
