My 2000 base XJ8 from time to time when exiting, will activate the alarm after I push the lock button on the remote. I silence the alarm by inserting the key and unlocking the car. Once that is done and I re-enter the car the driver door window does not work with the door switch nor will the sunroof stay vented. I disconnect the neg. battery cable and do a hard reset. Everything's back to normal once I resync. the sunroof by holding the close switch for 15 seconds. The battery is not quite 3 years old. Faulty remote, faulty battery or lock module? I will say the remote activates the door locks on one press 50% of the time, the other 50% I must push the lock button on the remote at least 3 times to lock the doors.

I don't remember if the X308 has a 'Last Alarm Activation' data stored in the SLCM.
If it does, then I would look there to see what the SLCM has stored. Maybe other DTCs??

I've had this happen now and then, and always do a reset (disconnect negative), which fixes it until the next time. I did notice that it would happen when I used the key in the door. I think (can't quite remember) I sprayed some wd40 in the lock and also make sure that the lock is completely center before I pull out the key. Since I don't use the key in the door often, it rarely happens to me, so I can't remember if that fixed it.
