Drivers control module issues...no power How to
#21
Cheers Jim big help "the wiring diagram" I will explore this soon with a test light and let you know how I get on ..... Jimbov8 no worries about cutting in all help welcome .. As to your question on the battery this is good and is only a few months old .. I will probably try a hard reset with disconnecting both terminals, but I would like to try and check the power supply to said door first before going further also I intend to remove the fuse box and see if all the connections behind are good .. This could end up being one of these jobs you wish you never started but it does annoy me that this door won't work ... as well as a security risk as I have noticed that when you lock the car this door opens without the alarm going off ... Just something that a thieving toe rag would love if nothing else but to get whatever they can out of the car ... Will post again when I have tested circuit involved and let you all know my findings. Colin

Looks like fuse# 13 (Brown wire with Red Strip) also provides power (RP10-1) to the Passenger Rear Door Module.
This fuse is related to its door window operation (the Window Lift Contol) and its door locking operation (the Door Lock Control) both of which are inside the Passenger Rear Door Module
Here is a JPEG file with all of the Pins in the module identified and gives their purpose:

Hi Jim & others looking in ... Sorry it took so long to update this posting but with the holidays Xmas etc I only just found time today to strip the door down & test electrics and its good news all works as it should now .... The problem was the main power wire in the connection plug into the door module .. It was broken at the pin and couldn't connect this has been repaired and all is good now ... I would just like to thank Jim Lombardi for his help and the supply of the wiring diagrams they were invaluable ... It gives great pleasure when things go right when doing electric problems which as I am sure many of you know don't always go well ... But thanks to the help on here I am chuffed that my Jag is back to 100% on this area .... Many thanks Colin

Hi folks,
and sorry to dig out this old thread. But unfortunately I'm having the same issues with my Jags passenger rear door (i.e. door is 'dead') as Colin had over a year ago.
Before I found this thread I 'studied' the 'XJ Series Sedan 2000 Electrical Guide' - at least as far as my 'car electronics' understanding allowed.
After I checked the fuses (#13 and #15 at rh heelboard) I was almost sure that this was caused by a faulty rear door control module - but unfortunately that was not the case.
I took a final attempt today (detached the trim again) and checked the voltage at RP10-1. Surprise - no voltage.
As far as I understand it RP10-1 leads to 'harness-to-harness connector' CA16 (6-WAY MULTILOCK 070 / WHITE) which is located at 'PASSENGER ‘B/C’ POST / DOOR HARNESS GAITER'.
Sorry for my ignorance and my lack of 'technical English' - but is anybody able to tell me the location of this harness-to-harness connector?
Thanks!
Ekki

Look at this photo of the B/C post in the following Ebay UK listing:

At least now you will know what it looks like.

Here is a Ebay photo of the rear passenger door harness (observe the white connector next to the "thru the door seal"), I also included photos of the multiplug 070 6 way connectors- male & female) - click on the image when the webpage opens to get a better view:

Jim,
thanks for your effort. Tonite I bought a replacement for the microswitch of the trunk lock which (also thanks to this forum) I was able to identify as the source for the non-functional trunk lights.
The guy there told me that the white connector (CA16) should be accessible behind the bottom of the B/C trim panel you mentioned before. We will see...
Hopefully it's only a loose connector/something easy. If everything fails he will have another door harness for me.

I also created these 2 PDF files from the JTIS software giving the instructions & illustrations on the B pillar R&I:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ixff9ii82...el%20R%26I.pdf
Hopefully you will only have the remove the 2 lower tree fasteners (see steps 4 and 5) to access the CA16 connector.
If not you might be able to remove most of the B/C pillar (post) without doing step 2 - front seat belt upper and lower anchorages removal:
Here is the other PDF file on front seat belt:

Hi guys, just been informed about your problem with the rear door power problem. All I can tell you that the problem you describe seems similar to what I experienced. I tried all the usual checks fuses, plug connectors, wiring loom, control box etc ... it turned out to be a simple broken wire in the plug that connects the door controller it was very difficult to see and I only found it by accident when replacing the plug into the control unit and was wriggling the wires in the process of replacing said plug ... It could of course be something else but on my travels this year around the UK and chatting with other Jag owners it would seem to be more of a problem than I thought, not only with the connector in question but on others within the XJ8 range.... I hope this helps and wish you luck in resolving problem .. Colin

Hi guys,
although this might not be a common problem I would like to report here how it turned out.
As mentioned before the rdcm was in order but without power, so the problem had to be the connector behind the B-pillar trim panel.
Unfortunately it was not enough to remove the 'draught welts' and the fasteners at the bottom. There was simply not enough room (at least for my hands...) and I feared to break something there. So I removed the whole trim panel. That was some work but it gave much better access.
As suspected the '+' cable was broken. I replaced about 20cm of wiring and also replaced the '+' pin of the connector. Rear passenger door is working again.
Thanks again for all the infos you guys provided.

When i comes to Control Modules i Think this bulentin is Worth Reading.. especially the part where they highlight the fact that modules can "learn" from Another car.. and what problems that might occure if you move around boxes for troubleshooting.

Welcome to the forum.
From your profile it appears as though you have a 2004 XJR. If so then the correct forum is found here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/
Click on that link and then the button (highlighted in yellow) in the upper left hand corner. That will create a new thread where you can ask your question.
