Default driver's seat compatibility?

I found a seat in a 99 sedan that has better leather than my 01, and the junkyard book says they're not compatible, junkyard guy says probably wiring or connector incompatibility.
Anyone have experience in this area?

There should be no issues especially if you swap your present seat ecu with the new seat. Probably would be fine either way. I've mixed and matched '98-02 seats and computers with no issues. All X308 seats are interchangable from what I know

I had a 'Single Function' seat in my XJ8, 1998. Found two multi-function switch seats at Eurojag in Darlington, cabling was already installed, fitted and worked a treat. I understand Jaguar do this with all X308 car seating?

Default Single vs. Multiple?

What does this mean? My seats, 2001 must be multi function, but what exactly is a single function switch? Anyone have pictures of the difference? The more I learn about these cars, the more there is to keep learning.

My car is a 1998 XJ8, the 'Single Function' seats that came with the car only have a switch that moved the seat up or down, a more conventional lever was used to move the seat forward or backwards. I found a pair of front seats out of a Daimler that had a 'multi-function' switch, ie, moves seat up/down, forward/backward, headrest up/down, lumbar support, and recline forward/backward. There was no need for any wiring, it was already there, I just connected the multi-function seats up and they worked perfectly. Hope this explains?
