The driver's seat in my Sovereign (yr 2000 XJ8 4.0L) doesn't go up and down any more. The front of the seat lifts, but not the back. Reading other posts it's most likely the ECM failed (broken tracks). I can fix that - if I can get it out!

The problem is that the ECM seems to be bolted down midway along the seat runners and the seat doesn't move far enough forward or backwards to uncover it. How do I get at it and exactly where/how is it bolted down?

 

Why don't you undo the 4 bolts that hold the seat to the floor and remove the whole seat ?


Would surely be a lot easier to test/ remove components when the seat is on the bench.
