Default Driver's seat problem

I'm just putting our 2003 XJ8 back on the road after storing it for two years. The driver's seat won't move in any direction so I was going to remove it and check the underseat wiring and seat module except the seat is stuck at the rear of it's travel and I can't get at the two torx bolts at the back of the track. I can remove the front two but can't move the seat forward to remove the back two.

Is there any way to manually push the seat forward on it's tracks?

Unfortunately it is also stuck with the front of the squab lowered. I can see the probably troublesome seat module but can't access it because the seat is so low.

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Hi Andrew
Welcome to the forum.
Look at this article that is on forum member Gus website (JagRepair.com):

JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

He has instructions and photos on how to clean & fix front seat switches.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for Gus' link. I'll try that. Can I lever the switch out of the side of the seat without breaking anything? I can't get at those two back Torx bolts to remove the seat so it will have to be done with the seat in the car.
Cheers,
Andrew

I just need to move the seat forward on it's tracks to access the back Torx screws. Does anyone know if it is possible to manually push the seat forward? Even a couple of inches would let me get the back two Torx out and remove the seat.
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew
Have you tried a hard reset?

Here is how to do a hard reset (provided by forum member Sean B):
This is holding the neg cable to the pos post on the battery for 20 seconds, clears the memory and it's back to factory settings.

Also what is the condition of your battery? A lot of times the battery is the culprit.
A weak battery will cause a lot of electrical issues.

Hi Jim,
Yes, I have tried a hard reset but there is no change. I just last week got the local British repair shop to get the car back on the road after 2 years storage. They checked out the battery under load and the charging system and both checked out fine. I'll phone them on Monday (tomorrow) to see if they have any ideas. The runners on the seat completely cover the back two bolts. All I need is to move the seat forward 2 inches and I can unbolt it. Maybe I can lift the squab part of the seat up enough to get at the module and connectors from above.
Cheers,
Andrew
