Hi
I just compared the sample pages of the Bookmarks in that Ebay listing to the JTIS Text Navigator Index and they are exactly the same.
This looks like an expensive PDF ($30) that was created from the JTIS CD,
It looks like someone used PDF software like Adobe Pro to create a whole bunch of PDF files. Probably used the print function of the JTIS and choose the printer as Adobe PDF to create a new PDF file that will have the JTIS pages selected.
Even the sample of how to change spark plugs is exactly the same as the JTIS pages.
JTIS CD is usually available for sale on Ebay for about $10 including the shipping.
With that being said this PDF file might be easier to use to find the information you require. JTIS global search gives you a list of all the sections that has the search term you requested. You have to click an the item section listed to see if this is what you wanted. A PDF search brings you to each occurance of the search term as they appear within the PDF file.
This PDF might save you time in finding the information you need. Maybe it is worth the extra money to buy it.
Here is a 2 page PDF I just created from JTIS on the "removing and installing spark plugs" (I used Adobe Pro):
how to R&R sparkplugs.pdf
I also bought a shop manual for our 1990 Acura Legend on Ebay about 6 years ago. Someone in Greece had listed it. It was apparent that once-upon-a-time this was a printed shop manual. The first page has the listed publisher as the Honda Motor Compnay. Someone created this PDF file of 1122 pages from a printed manual and then put it on a CD. I think the illustrations and instructions on the 1990 Acura Shop Manual are much better than the JTIS and positively easier to find the information you might require. The first page has this on it:
First Edition 8/89 1,174 pages HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD - It looks like they did not copy the other 52 pages.
Some of the pages are not exactly straight or even (maybe a poor camera shot of the pages).

Seems like a more user friendly version than the JTIS (which I can never install properly!)

Yes it is more friendly because it is a PDF file
Hi
Look at my posting (post #2). The good news is there is no JTIS software to install. It is a large PDF file with information for just the XJ models.
As I said in the previous post - it seems to have the same information and illustrations in the same sections as JTIS (in fact it was probably was extracted from the JTIS CD).
That Ebay listing says they have 3 of them available for sale. Maybe you can buy one and have it uploaded to the large file website. Then we exam it and make a recommendation to the other members whether to buy or not to buy it.

Depends on what PC and what operating system
Hi blarchitect
I would recommend the JTIS 21 CD if you have a32 bit PC with Windows XP on it.
I would recommend the purchase of the Jaguar Shop Manual PDF file that you found on Ebay if you have a 64 bit PC. If that is the case then this Ebay PDF file is the least expensive ($30 vs $6 + $75) way to go and probably the easier method of finding the information you may require for Jag XJ. This is not great option if you also own another Jag model such as an S or X etc.
If you 64 bit PC with Windows 7 Professional or you have another version of Windows 7 and upgrade ($75) to the Professional Version, then you can install and run JTIS in XP mode in as a virtual windows PC. I am not sure how easy or hard this is to do. Also I do not know the amount of diskspace and memory required. Other member have done this successfully.
More research needs to be done to find easier ways to install JTIS on these 64 bit PCs.
If you buy the JTIS 21 CD that is on Ebay for less $6 delivered and you have a 32 bit PC with Windows XP, then the JTIS takes less than 20 minutes to install and start using it.
You have 2 options on how you want to run JTIS. If you want to install it and run it without using the CD, then you need to copy the entire CD to your hard drive and do the install from that folder on the hard drive (can also be installed on another Drive letter -say a E:second or F:third hard drive in the same PC and the C :drive will then only have a few folders and files on it).
If you install from the CD, then the CD must be in CD drive that you used for the install when you want to run it.
Under either method you need to just follow the steps in the DIY I created to install it. Then follow the other steps in the DIY on how to use the JTIS menus, search methods, and printing options.
32 bit PC with Vista seem to be a little harder to get the DAO Jet installed. The JTIS will not run properly without the DAO Jet installed.
