ECM dilemma VCAT codes and other delights
New fun on my P1647 issue. I finally ordered a used/new-to-me ECM having exhausted all other tests. I matched the ECM model number and VCAT code. Put in new ECU, car won't start. Looking at the new ECU next to old one I realize that they don't match model numbers. Turns out the car has a replacement engine in it from a salvaged car. My guess is they swapped the ECM with the engine. Problem now is that I have no idea what the VCAT code for this ECM is and the local Jag dealer says they no longer have the equipment to read the ECM. Would they have swapped all the modules to make this work or just the ECM? The VCAT sticker in the body says the ECM should be LNF1410BD/503. The actual ECM in the car is LNE1410BE.
Anybody have any luck with finding a software to program these? Suggestions?

Besides a Jag dealer, I do know an Autologic will handshake the key transponder module (KTM) with the ECM. To the best of my knowledge, you cannot just go out and buy one so save your time there. It’s going to be a hit or miss if the ‘503’ number is going to be the same as yours. I cannot comment on the somewhat different part number if it actually will work or not in your car either. I looked at your profile so I must ask, where is the car currently located?
