ECU trouble/no start

So I kept getting a bank 2 knock sensor/restricted performance.
Changed the sensor, no help.
Checked harness, good continuity
Swapped to a spare ECU I had from a donor car, cranks but no start. I am not certain of the condition of ecu from donor but the car was running when it was wrecked, I bought it out of the tow lot.
Replaced old ecu and have no start, a ton of error messages, incorrect part fitted, transmission fault, ect. The relay near the left shock tower, in the fuse block with only one relay, makes a buzzing sound when key is on.
checked all fuses, swapped relays around, nothing changes. Car will not start now.
ideas?

try a hard reset, what you did was change a key component within the CAN network, the ecu is linked to the bcm.
Are you totally sure you know bank A from bank B, I'd have changed out the knock sensor to the other side if no change, not swapped an ecu?!
You disconnected the battery while you did the swaps, didn't you?

Bank 2 is on the left sitting in the car, correct? I did swap the knock sensors side to side when the new one didn't fix the issue. No change, still code for bank 2 and restricted performance. It takes a couple secs for the restricted performance message to come on. During that time the car idles fine. When it goes to the restricted mode the idle is a little rough. I assume that is timing going to full retard?
I did disconnect the batt and when changing ecu's but did not do a hard reset, I will try that. Thanks.

btw- I disconnected the + when I changed the ecus but didn't touch the cables together to clear the capacitors. Is that an issue? I work with lots of german stuff and we never have to worry about there being enough capacitance to be a problem so long as key is off and batt is disconnected.
