Default Electric windows buttons - driver's door central control pad

The driver's door central electric windows button pad on my 1999 v8 sovereign just started to warm up and get quite hot during a long drive.
all the windows still responded to the controls however.
No warning lights have come on.
would anyone know what (electrical?) fault may be happening?

Sounds like just a switch going bad or grounded. I would be pulling that asap to check it and prevent any kind of fire.

Thanks for this HighhorseI will have a look. The truth is i had the whole door panel including arm rest off recently, (and un-necessarily) while replacing the door mirror assembly which had been broken off by a drive by vandal.I didnt think i had messed with the wiring and its been a month since then anyway.

Understood, too bad about the vandal (soulless scum).....but for your part, you may had inadvertently pinched a wire and after a bit of rubbing, it wore through? It may not had been anything on your part either other than moving a 19yr old part that's dry rotted, it cracks and creates a bridge between what was two separate insulated pieces. Definitely doesn't hurt to check.

I guess that is my lot-in-life.

I never really have to type in answers to questions because Jaguar already knew about the fault and sent out TSBs to the Dealer Techs!!!!!!

All I have to do is remember that there was a TSB issued and find it in my TSB info folders. Someday my memory will fade and I will just read posts!!!! (or make up answers to sound smart??)

Default Many thanks both

Thanks for this Bob/highorse,

i had not been aware of tsbs!
now i must go and find some 50 Milliamp bulbs
Incidentally i now realise that when i got in the car mid-journey the other day, my seat had moved to a forward position that was certainly not something I had set (i have never knowingly used the seat position presets) so I imagine there is more to come....
