How much does the engine move upwards during driving from it's position when at rest? I need to know how much extra clearance I have between the hood and engine.

 

Put lumps of modeling clay on top of the engine parts that appear to have the least clearance and go for a drive using full throttle. The clay will compress against the hood and indicate how much clearance is available.

 

must be only a fraction of an inch. I know on my car there are places where the intercoolers and/or the clips on the hoses that attach to the intercoolers have worn into the underhood insulation blanket
