Engine is smoking but not overheating?

I am having a guess that you do have an engine oil leak (possibly on the cam-cover seals) and the leaking oil is dropping onto the hot exhaust, which results in you having created a "smoke-machine"...
(Note aside: I just built myself a smoke machine (sock with baby-oil and a soldering ion in a jar) and with that I found very easily the leaks in the ducting leading to the air intake - which hopefully solves the riddle of my increased LPG consumption - as the LPG gets ducted into exactly those ducts.... I fixed all the leaks. I did that on my Fairlane.)
Anyway, I had the same "smoking issue" on my X308. It is kind of likely on X308s that the oil wants to leaks from the cam-covers, which have been ridiculously manufactured out of plastic.
