Engine Vibration
Iown a 1999 VDP and I amfeelingan engine vibration between 800 and 1,100 RPM's. The vibration is very slight and is present whether the car is in gear and moving or in neutral or park. Below 800 the engine is very smooth and above 1,100 the engine is also very smooth. It is mostly noticable in stop and go traffic. The car performs well on the highway, runs smooth and accelerates quickly. Anyone have a similiar experience? This is the only Jaguar I have ever driven, so I have not benn able to make a comparison. Could this be normal?

RE: Engine Vibration
Jag_genius, you mentioned you had this vibration on newer xj's. Any information on what it was on thoses cars, timing chain or torque converter? If it is the torque converter what will happen if I do not have it fixed. It only seems to happen at around 800 to 1,100 rpm's

RE: Engine Vibration
everything in drive line is balanced by itself and shud work together with no balance problems.. had a torque converter out of balance and when moved it then bolted it up it got better so i replaced the torque converter and it was gone..
if it's slight dont really think it can do any damage.. but have also seen an engine out of balance internal parts out of balance.. which dint really do any damage just annoyed the customer.. never seen a timing chain have a vibe.. unless it rattles like crazy and it 's about to blow.. any noise form chain area.. ?
