Enhancing 1999 XJR Fuel Economy
Hi All!
I'm looking for suggestions as to how I can be kinder to my wallet please?
I drive without the necessity to punish my cat (do we know if our pride and joy is male or female?...I'll post another thread on this subject)
I recently drove the 2500 miles or so from North England to here in Malta with a more than fully laden car. I did a bit of driving around Paris, Cannes and Nice (attempting to be a little flash here..please forgive!) however most of the miles were on level'ish highways at around 70mph with the odd mountain in Italy (bit more flash!).Bottom line is I got 23.3/Gal and I was disappointed. My mate has a 2006 XJR and he got 32/Gal on a similar run.
Sooo is my car too thirsty??? Are there ways I can make improvements? Different air filter setup...injector cleaner additive etc.
All contributions gratefully received!
Cheers!

1.Install new fuel filter
2.clean or replace dirty air filter
3.use fuel injection cleaner with your gas ( every 3k miles)
4.check all tire pressure and inflate to proper psi ONCE A WEEK
5.check the plugs and replace if needed ( there cheap enough to replace)
Better gas mileage instantly !
