Default Entered the XJ8 Vander Plas in local car show

Sunday I entered my towns Fairbury, Nebraska) Museum Car Show and took 1st place for Best Import. Of course wouldn't you figure, this year there was no imports to be judged against as they had in the past. But I will still take it. The trophy was different, it is a replica of the windmills that were once produced in my town, will follow up with a picture of it

Oh dear, you did not actually call it a "Vander Plas" in the competition did you?!?!

[It's "Vanden Plas"]

When I do a search on Ebay, I always spell it both ways, as it is a VERY common misspelling. Anybody know who/what Vanden Plas was?

COACHBUILD.com - Van den Plas - ***** van den Plas - Vanden Plas

I guess the name is now in Chinese hands.

Ummm, nice try Dave from Yonk'uz, but it is spelled like that in your signature too, haha

The British already make fun of North Americans saying Jagwaur instead of Jag-you-are, but the funniest is the Midwesterners who call it a JagWire.

VDP is a trim/option level, not a color combo.

If yours is a VDP, it will be badged as such, unless a PO removed them.

You can try a Google image search for "XX98 (your year) VDP" and the external images should confirm what you have.

Eggplant, eh? My previous VDP was Plum, almost black, but not quite, but passersby occasionally referred to it as Eggplant. The difference between the two fruits would be the not-black part of the spectrum, eggplant being blue, plum being red. Was there ever a 2 tone factory option? Maybe Europe spec only?

Of course he got 1st place, it is the "best" VandeR Plas ever made

Good thing the local guy advertising a Vanden Plus in the paper did not enter providing some stiff competition.

I really do like these Vanden Plas. Appreciate mine every day.
