Entering the dark waters of the Jag "No Heat" issue
Hey guys. The new Jag has the common no heat issue. I found out the heater pump was burnt out. I ordered a take off from the Uk and I'm waiting to install that. When I had it off, I hooked a hose up and blew some serious sludge out of the heater core. I'm hoping that gets me one step closer...but that's not my actual question. My defrost won't kick in. The selector works for everything else. After a bit of research, I've found the two climate control motors. I'm assuming the top one controls the defrost 'flap'. I was going to order a new one but noticed the part number for the top and bottom motors is different. The question is; Which one controls the defrost flap? Top or bottom? There is a 5431 and a 5421. which one controls the defrost flap??
Thanks

Hi
I looked up the Defroster Servo Motor for 1998 XJ8L on the Gaudin Jaguar Parts website.
They show the part number as JLM20186 with their discounted price of $75.15 plus shipping (msrp is $92.50).
You should probably try Nalley Jaguar - another one of the forum vendor who also supports this forum. They give forum members a 15% discount and free shipping for all orders over $25.
Call them on the phone, very nice people that will give excellent advice and service.
See my thread on the XJ heating and air conditioning system info:
