Exhaust tips - Larger oval or Quad?
#21
Thank you guys ...
Guess the conclusion is that quads are something different, but just not right on this car, and without cosmetic surgery on other parts (like the bumper cut-outs) to keep it classy.
Confirmed my order for some larger (115mm) oval RezistanZ exhaust tips in the UK just now.
Lots of this stuff is made here in Asia, but I could not find the right quality / shape etc., so went overseas.
We will see what Santa brings in a week.

The Resistainz are first class. I have had them on my Sovereign for 7 years.
Makes them look more business like if the insides are painted black and to stop water collecting in the back edge, drill two 6mm holes on the edge to let it out.
Here's my car fitted with them.

Yes, finger thickness all around, perfect fit.
Yeah, I searched quite a bit for local ones, but I am happy I coughed up the extra cash, they are nice in look and feel.
I did paint them black on the inside before I installed them, but forgot about the holes, so thanks for the reminder, will do!

Yep two holes or else you're blowing out a water screen every time
you start up or wash the car ;o)=)
Just remember to not over tighten the clamping bolts as they can crush the pipe.
Frankly, I don't really like the mounting system...a bit agricultural.
I will be altering mine with two slots cut in the mounting flange and tighten up with a stainless worm drive clamp....much neater ;o))

Yes those Resistainz look perfect any link for purchase ?! Also what is the OEM XJR size compared to the base 8 ?! I can find part # NNC6721BA but not sure if it's the same size I have already ?!

KC,
The Standard XJ8:
- Width: 80mm
- Height: 60mm measured vertically (but the tip is angled at ~30 degree)
The Rezistanz:
- Width: 115mm
- Height: 85mm measured vertically (but the tip is angled at ~30 degree)
As mentioned, the XJR are somewhere in between the above, pics plentiful on the net.

They are indeed of a perfect quality, and have a universal mounting, so they should fit your car.
I actually removed them some months ago.
After my initial enthusiasm, I always considered those Rezistanz tips a tat too large looking on the XJ8.
Maybe it is the bumper, maybe the body kit, but it was just not 100% right.
I moved them over to the XK8 where they fit perfectly, and I am still looking for a new, slightly smaller set for the XJ8.
I bought mine from a guy called Chris Brueton - XKZ Parts & Accessories, you might still find him on eBay.
He did a great job, re-sent a replacement for slightly damaged one for free, so kuddos to him.
