After having my XJ8 for a few thousand miles I decided to start distancing myself from the other XJ's on the road. I've started by removing mufflers and adding a Mina Gallery intake filter

Its Muti, not Multi, and youre very welcome! Whenever I take on a new project I join the forums but when I cant find the info I need there, I try my best to share my info as I experiment on my cars, trucks and motorcycles. IT sounds pretty good now, but less sound than I was expecting. At idle, from within the cabin, its all but soundless. Accelerate regularly and you can hear a growl, but I was expecting a lot more. Stand on it and it sounds a lot better, but it also seems a few horsies are now missing from before the new system. I think the X pipe will give me the sound, growl and extra power Im looking for. As soon as I know I promise Ill let you know

I ordered an X pipe, not an H pipe. Though theyre quite similar, I believe the sound and hp will be better maximized with a true X pipe than an H pipe in place of everything I got rid of. I promise as soon as its done next week Ill share any info anyone may be interested in that might be helpful

Now its right. Stainless steel X pipe installed. IMMEDIATELY felt the difference once I rolled out onto the street, and the car sounds a lot better as well as much less vibration. It still sounds unbelievably tame considering it lost 3 mufflers, but if you really stand on it, and roll the rear windows down lol, it sounds fantastic. Perfect amount of V8 burble while remaining 150% civil and almost unnoticeable from within the cabin. Absolutely 0 highway drone. I may end up replacing the rear resonators with Magnaflows, but need to drive it like this for a few weeks before I decide if I want to take it up one more notch. For now Im happy

Absolutely my pleasure friend. I can honestly say I cant imagine anyone not being happy with this setup because it is still so civilized, yet if you absolutely drop the hammer on it, it growls. But it never sounds too loud or obnoxious, not for a second, and Im certain theres a net hp gain as well

Thanks for posting that. My car is standard, and way too quiet (my everyday car is a 5.4 litre Australian XR8 - which has a great burble, and very menacing roar for when I stand on it). So I want to open up the exhaust when I get back from this holiday in Hawaii. I was thinking of just taking out that long single muffler in the middle of the car and adding an X pipe. But one thing I couldn't have (to keep the Chairman of the Board happy) is a drone inside the car at cruising speed.
I now like the idea of taking out both the big middle muffler and the next 2 as you have, with the x pipe going in, if you say the results are a decent V8 burble and no drone.

No brother, if youre going to do it, lose all 3 mufflers and install an X pipe as far upstream as possible (as you can see I did). Your wife literally may not even notice what you did, but when you stand on it, YOU will. I may go even further, but for now Im more concerned about getting my water pump job completed, then Ill likely revisit the exhaust. You have my word, if you do a setup like mine, there isnt even a hint of drone. Beyond all, this car fights to stay civilized no matter what you do. From the outside it sounds awesome, but in the car, the Mrs will likely not even notice a change.

Ill try. At idle its audible, but I dont know if its loud enough for it to be picked up by my phone. To rev it and really hear it, Ill need someone else in the car to hit it for me while I record it. Ill try to get someone to give me a hand. In my experience though, online recordings of exhausts are kind of useless because there are so many variables (camera quality, mic quality, background noise, wind, your own speakers etc.) that its really hard to gauge what youre hearing from a car online. But Ill definitely try to share with you folks
