Ok Im tired of this pulling the tank business. Is there a way to use a universal electric inline pump mounted on the frame rail in my 98 xj8. What PSI should I look for.
Also would I have to remove any fixtures from the old set up if I went this way.
If not, what is the best deal on a factory pump from one of you techs here, with shipping to Chico Ca 95973

XJ Ate, looking over the JTIS, it says that your fuel pressure system runs at 3.0 bar. Converting that over to PSI, it runs at 30 psi. Now, keep in mind that you will need a pump that puts out around 40-45 psi to account for line losses of the fuel lines and allow the fuel pressure regulator to do its job too.
One thing I will caution you on with what you are talking about is that electric fuel pumps do not like to suck. So, the fuel pump will need to be mounted as close to the fuel tank as possible and it should be mounted as low as possible in the car so that the static head of the fuel in the tank helps provide some positive pressure to the pump. It is these two factors as to why almost every manufacturer puts the fuel pumps into the tanks now adays.
Hopefully this gives you the info that you are after.

No Ohio it didnt fix it.
I got everything patched up and put together and I only get a small dribble from the fuel rail really no pressure at all. It sounds as though an external electric is out of the question.
I need to pull the tank a third time and test the pump itself for pressure but honestly Im tired of pulling that tank already. Any other ideas on why id get no start or pressure here? It turns over and will fire for a couple seconds if I spray starting fluid in the throttle body but dies very quickly after. I know you are all tired of hearing about this but I dont know what else to try.
