You can release the tube connectors with a pair of needle nose pliers used to push the sides of the connector outward. There is a special tool for the job and every car came with one installed on a fitting. On my XJ8 it was on a fitting underneath the throttle body, on my XK8 it was on the part load breather hose. Unfortunately a lot of them have been lost during repairs.
I have attached a picture of what you are looking for. It makes changing the lines much simpler. Pliers work but you have the possibility of breaking off nipples and adding to the cost of changing the lines.

One thing of noteworthiness, when extracting the tubes, be sure all the tube comes out. When I did my one coming by the S/C to the back of the bypass, it broke off so cleanly I didn't realize it broke until I fired it up and it leaked. The O-ring was hardened in place and didn't release the end of the tube. It took me awhile with my picks the finally hook it and get it out. If you do break one, be patient, be sure to pull outward after hooking the end so if it breaks down more, you won't drive any into your cooling system and mess up your pump or plug something and overheat.
All a precautionary scenario mind you.
