Default a few silly questions from a newbie

Ok, here are a couple of crazy questions that are hard to research. - and I don't know any other XJ8 owners to check with
  1. My 98 VDP doesn't seem to have a light for the manual clock - is mine out or do they not have a light ?
  2. Nothing lights up on my dash to indicate cruise is on (many cars even from ths vintage have either a single green light or the word cruise lights up) is mine not working or this jag doesn't have anything ?
  3. If I leave my turn signials on --nothing beeps at me to remind me they are still on - does this car have anything for that ?
thanks -

1. The clock is illuminated by a single small bulb.
You will need to remove the center dash wood (I always remove the gauge wood first), and pop up the left side (for a US car) of the airbag wood (disconnect the battery and wait 5 min).
You then can carefully remove the plastic with the ventilation grills, and the clock comes out with that.

2. Nop, just the red LED on the center console that the CC is activated and ready to use.

3. Small speaker in the steering column broken, several threads on this forum how to replace them.

Thanks Eric,

A couple of other questions for anyone that wants to chime in - My vehicle is a Vanden Plas - I have come across a few people offering me parts cars. Som of teh cars are regular XJ8 and some are XJ8 Long base - My questions:

Can I use any of the interior or body parts of an XJ8 Long -are they essentially the same as the VDP just the VDP might be a grade higher leather etc but the same sizes ?

Can I use interior trim and door panles from a regular XJ8 for the front part of the VDP ? in other words is the only difference the longer back end ?

Yes most of the interior parts are interchangeable,of course the back differs as you've noticed.

Correct, but leather color and also some of the trim piece color is generally different between the XJ8 Sovereign and a VDP.
Seat pattern are different too.
That said, a LWB XJ8 with a AJ26 engine (opposed to the later AJ27) should be a very nice spares car indeed.
