fitting non-factory reversing sensors
Hi again to all. The 2002 XJ8 which I own has no reverse parking sensors . I fitted up the wireless type but they are really useless. I am trying to work out how to run the necessary wires from the sensors to somewhere near the instrument panels. Is there anyone out there who has done this job and could give me an idea of how and where they ran the wires through the cabin. I would very much appreciate some help.....Alan

If you do a google search on x308 and parking and/or sensor, you will find a very nice website of a finish guy installing one on his silver jaguar.
Plenty of pic.
It is not in this forum but the best guide u can get.
If I remember well, he fitted the speaker in the booth, I myself ran the wire to the cabin, and installed it under the rear seat.

Alan,
The Jaguar fitting instructions for the factory reverse park aid should give you some hints on where to run the wires:
JLM 21545 Reverse aid.pdf
The route into the passenger compartment is through the panel under the rear parcel shelf.

Illustrations 31 to 36 in the PDF.
31 shows the plastic trim around the luggage compartment lock. With this removed you can get wiring from the rear bumper sensors into the luggage compartment.
33 shows the parcel shelf removed. you should find a hole in the metal below leading directly into the luggage compartment so this is the route for getting wiring from the luggage compartment into the passenger compartment.
With the rear seat out, you can get any wiring down to the rear passenger floor if required.
This makes a complete wiring rout from rear bumper to passenger compartment without any drilling.
