I've used the same old FJ for years on a variety of my recent Jaguars (XJ40, X300, X308, XK8, XK) and other vehicles. Doesn't look pretty any more but it's reliable!

It has a similar problem of almost no movement on the lever with the vehicles on level ground.

I get over this by jacking under each spring pan in turn and standing the road wheel on a short length of 3 inch by 7 inch timer joist offcut to raise the front of the vehicle. Very quick and it means I can then easily use the FJ under the cross member etc.

Thanks Graham,
For those of us who are not certain exactly where the spring pan is, could you post a pix perhaps with an arrow?
I can see from your photo it is behind the wheel.

Part #3 in this drawing

Part no. CBC7278 | Spring pan parts from Jaguar Heritage Parts UK

Would still like to see a photo showing exactly where you place the FJ saddle. That spring pan does not look flat.
