Just purchased a 1998 XJ was my Mechanics car so all the big fixes are done. but he is not one for the little things!

The front fog lights do not come on and I get no dash light to indicate power to the lights have checked the bulbs and some of the wiring they are okay. I am thinking it is the relay that is shoot.

Anyone have any other thoughts as to places that are a problem?

 

Fuses?

 

Sorry Yes I have checked the one in the engine compartment ! you said Fuses is there more than "ONE"

 

Switch the fog lights on and test whether you have 12V going through the fuse to the lights. If not, check the relay next. This part of the circuit is the battery power side.

There is another fuse in the same box for the ignition/switch side to operate the relay, but if that fuse was blown you have lost a lot more.
