Default Ford crossover part for chain tensioners

Hi guys. I've got my valve covers off and have confirmed the old style tensioners on my 99. I'm shopping around for the best price on the updated verisons and ran across an ebay auction for a tensioner for a 97-03 Lincoln ls 3.9 and the part looks 100% identical. I read somewhere on here someone alluding to a ford crossover part also.

So I'm wondering if this is legit and if so does anyone have the ford PN#. Looking at ford Trademotion parts websites I'm seeing an average of 50-60$/ea for the tensioners for the lincoln.

Thanks!

I have ordered my parts, but they have not yet arrived. Below is a listing of the parts ordered, pricing, part numbers and quantity. These parts are for the secondary chain only as I have decided that at 98,000 miles I'm not going to bother with the primaries unless I see something horribly wrong while I'm in there. The Ford dealer I used was quite familiar with the parts cross and all I had to do was say I have a 2000 model year AJ-V8 and I need X, Y and Z and Bob's your uncle there was the list. Since I have some family events next weekend I'm probably going to do this the weekend of the 27th of September, I'll post when It's done.

LN# PART# / DESCRIPTION QORD QSHP SALE EXTENDED

Thanks! That's exactly what I'm looking for. There are dozens of trademotion sites online that sell OEM ford parts very inexpensively. I think this route is far better than buying the "Jaguar" parts for inflated prices. They are identical.

http://www.oefordparts.com/

This place had them for 50$ and 55$ respectively for the tensioners.

I'm trying to get the ford parts counter software to work currently and will post more crossover parts as I find them.

Default Ford tensioners

You guys better be careful. I pulled up a ford warehouse website and got the part # for the Lincoln. Found the exact looking part but it bolted to the side than the bottom so it want work. Im not sure if it was an oem ford part or not so check the bolt hole positions cause you may not be able to return it.
If anybody has ordered the right part from ford and actually put it on their car, (or about to put it on your car) and it bolted up correctly please let me know where you got your part.
Thanks and good luck.

My Lincoln 3.9L tensioners bolted right up. You may have gotten the 6 cylinder version which I believe bolts to the front.

I paid $53/56 (no tax) after extensive web searches.

Any other crossover parts would be appreciated.

Default Tom?

Where did you buy your tensioners?
I assume then that they bolted down vertiaclly rather that from the side?
The pic I saw may have been deceptive.

Default Tom?

Were your tensioners for a 2002 Lincoln LS v8? These are the ones I was told would work.
Thanks for your replys.

All 4 of the current tensioners and guides fit and work. I just did mine with Ford Thunderbird parts. It had the same mota as the LS.

NOTE: The Ford Timing Chains DO NOT FIT. The ones I got from my dealer had a completely different link style. When I went back to the dealer he found a note that said to use the chains on older vehicles, that you'd have to replace all the sprockets. It was extremely cost prohibitive so I decided not to do the chains and reused the old ones.

Yes, the 02' Lincoln LS 3.9L is a modified AJ27 engine. Some things do not fit that is why we need to develop a crossover list. The tensioners, both upper and lower, shorter tensioner bolts, valve cover gaskets and spark plug gaskets do fit.

Thanks for the note about the chains. It would have been a reasonable assumption that they would have been the same.

I ordered from SilverStateFordParts.com.

Are the tensioners and cam cover gaskets going to be the same for a 2002 XJR as for a 2000 XJ8?

Yes, and FelPro has the gaskets for even less than the Ford store.

Default Tensioner bolts too long

Not sure what accounts for the discrepency, but the Lincoln valve cover gaskets did not fit. More importantly, the part number mentioned earlier in this thread for the tensioner bolts must have been incorrect; Ford sent me a sealed bag with 4 of the bolts with that part number, and they were slightly longer than the original bolts. Fortunately, part of the shoulder was narrower and by cutting a bit off the bottom they went right in. It was a scary surprise, though, when I first bolted the tensioners down and the bolts bottomed out.

Mine came a little shorter than the bolts for the plastic tensioners. I believe the part numbers to be correct. The Lincoln 3.9L is a modified 4.0 AJ27 engine. The modifications did not affect the gaskets and tensioners but did the chains. It appears that Lincoln used the '03 chains/sprockets.

I may have given up too early on the gaskets; in looking around the forums it looks like they should have fit.

The tensioners were right but the bolts were definitely too long (that's part number W705391-S300 BOLT) listed earlier in this thread. All of the other info I've found in the forums show part number 2W500301-S300 SCREW for the bolt. This seems logical since the part number starts with 2W, same as the tensioners. If you're not paying close attention, it's actually possible with those longer bolts to torque the tensioners down and not realize that they're not actually tight. Fortunately I made the bolts work just fine but it was a little disconcerting. Here's a link to a page showing the (correct?) bolt number:
