Hey all, i have removed the transmission to cure the slipping and what i found got me confused. The A-drum looks undamaged, the only visible clue was the broken o-ring on the shaft.
The cover part of the A-drum shows severe scoring, I'd love to get some input what could have happened here. I'm going to install the upgraded A-drum but I wanna know if there is anything lurking inside there.

For your Q, you may want to review this video...
I'm not good at introduction but i'll give it a try
The car is a 2001 x308 n/a 4.0, high miles. I have the Transgo valve installed and its got newish fluid in the tranny, the slipping happens when the oil is warm and in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. Sometimes i get transmission fail message with codes like p0733. Everything else is perfect on the car besides the transmission, p1111 is what i get when the transmission is working. The gearshifts are smooth, especially when the oil is colder.
The old a-drum looks fine, no chunks missing, the snap ring was in place, the only thing i found was a disintegrated o-ring and those scorings on the drum cover plates. Anybody knows what could have caused those? Should i be concerned or just put it together with the new a-drum?
From roughly the :40 mark to the 1:25 mark describes what your in Q of and the scoring....even the broken "O" ring. Not saying specifically this is the issue, but definitely worth considering.
The only thing is, the a-drum looks perfect, the snap ring was holding. Maybe the scoring happened before as this transmission has been repaired before by the p/o. Could the broken O-ring cause the slip? The clutches looked clean, no burn marks or wear.
That's a whole different kettle of fish if the PO was in it. You have no clue what he did or reused. Technically said swapping out enough broke parts for new and calling it a day perhaps?
Which in turn on that video, for the time frame I state, it makes sense the PO had the issue, cleaned out what little he had to and tossed it back together and now you are the victim. I would replace new as if it were the first time fixing it, why take the chance.
