Hi there. After having 2 fenders replaced on my XJ, the fascia of the car (because of the collision shop) has become out of line, the grille doesn't fit against the hood normally, and the plastic trim under the headlamps doesn't seem to fit very well either. What can I do about thishw can I adjust the grille to a factory fit once again? Thanks.

If I am not mistaken, all of these parts have a bit of adjustment that you can do with them. The key to alignment is to get the major parts fit properly from the start, then the alignment of the trim pieces come next. My grille was misaligned a fraction when I got it, and with a bit of tweeking with the headlight trim, and grille, it is nearly perfect now. Based upon what you said was replaced, I would assume that the fenders are actually the culprits so you probably have to start there.

having just fitted front wings (er, fenders) and bonnet to a new bodyshell, the trick is to align the wing edges to the bonnet, the rest adjusts to these panels, i.e. headlamps, headlamp bezels and grill. The JTIS has the panel fit measurements in mm.
You start with the panel gaps at the front doors to the wings, then match the front.
You'll need a 10mm socket to slacken the wing bolts, a torx of the right size to adjust the grill, and I think a 13 or 10mm socket to slacken the headlamps, can't remember the size of the bezel fixtures.
An old English engineering proverb from Jaguar, "if it looks right, it is right".
Good luck.

I actually discovered that one of my headlight brackets is cracked, and that's a multi-hundred-dollar part, which is dissapointing. The Fenders are OK fitting, just I'm not pleased with a few aspects of the fit. The whole face of the car's looks depend on it fitting perfectly. I do have all the necessary 'spanners' to get the job done I suppose. I'll post a picture of the problem if II can.
