Front Grille R&I

Front Grille R&I
I had an Private Message request for Front Grille Removal and Install - member wants to remove XJ8 grille and replace it with XJR grille.
Here is a JPEG file I created that shows the JEPC parts illustration of the grille component parts along with the JTIS step by step instructions and illustrations (if you increase the zoom in your browser from 100% to 125% you will be able to get a clearer view):

Here is another thread on front grille - posted by member vincent661983 - Mina Chrome Mesh Grille:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...d-x308-115143/
You should contact member Stu 1986 (has a 2001 XJ8). His post (post# 5) "I have the same grill set up on my Jag, only both my surround and grille are factory items".
Photo of his Jaguar showing XJ8 with the XJR mess grille also is in post# 5 of the mina chrome mesh grille surround x308 thread.

OK what am I doing wrong here. On the "middle" edge after some driving the grill pushes in from the frame and that creates a gap between rubber surround and the frame (pic below - cell phone quality but you can see the gap between the rubber surround and the frame)
How can I "snug" the XJR grills up so they fit better?

Are you using after market parts or actually Jaguar dealership parts (part numbers - HNC5503CA - Left side and HNC5502CA - right side)??
There might be a fit issue sometimes when using after market parts?????
See if you get more information from forum member Stu 1986.
Also, did you get the 4 insert clips (2 for each XJR mesh panel) and the 4 self tapping screws that hold the XJR mesh panels in place?
Insert clip part number is HNA5506AB and the screw part number is AD606031 (chrome finish) - JAD60603K (black finish)

Gaugin Jaguar online sells the insert clips at discounted price of $9.73 and the grille screw for $0.75 each giving you a total of $41.92 before shipping costs are added.
I would call them (1-800-585-4704) to make to sure about the pricing, availiblity and the small parts shipping costs (their normal shipping is a flat rate of $14.95, but they usually will lower it depending on what is being purchased).

Thanks to everyone that helped me out with this. I ended up getting both parts (x4) for $55 picked up at Rusnak Jag. I've got a coworker that lives about 2 miles from the dealership so she's going to snag them for me Wednesday.
FYI Rusnak has a 10% off parts coupon on their web site now and they are pretty competitive with the Vegas dealer.

Quick Mesh Grill Install 2002 XJ8
I response I got from Chris Mina when I asked about replacing my stock grill on my 2002 XJ8 Sport model.
The install is actually very easy. You start by removing the bar inserts. all the bars (vertical grill bars) come off in one piece which is separate part from the frame. You to this by placing a flat head screw driver in the small gap between the bars and the outer frame (at the top section of the bars) and then apply some counter pressure (tilt the screw driver handle upward) to push the bars down. This will unlock them and they will fall forward. You will then see that they are two tabs with holes on the inside of the factory grille. This is how you secure the mesh inserts. You put them in place (they will have tabs at the bottom, which will pass through holes in the base of the grille surround), lay back, and then secure by passing screw through the mesh and into the holes in the tabs.
Hope that helps.
