Default front pad replacement

hi can any one tell me if i have to open the bleed point to retract the pistons in the calipers for replacing my pads on a xj8 3.2 2000

no...unless you are bleeding the brakes at the same time. I would syphon off some fluid from the master cylinder to avoid overflow.

I'm a little late gettin here, but you should bleed off fluid at the calipers and NOT the reservoir. Reason being the fluid at the calipers are heat stressed and need to be replaced on a regular basis. The brake fluid sees extreme heat and pressures starting at the caliper, so you should drain this fluid off first. Also any dirt that gets into the system will settle out at the lowest point which is the calipers.
