Front suspension 'torsion noise' - still.
Greetings folks. Long time not been here. Generally, a good sign. And yes my cat has been quite reliable lately. Because I recently got new tires, the time had come to address some front suspension work, way overdue. I had everything from a 'clonk' when braking from a reversing out position, to rattling of all sorts. My shocks (and top bushings) were replaced I will say ~15k miles ago. That was ~1.5 years ago. Last week, got new ball joints, arm bushings, links and sway arm rubbers replaced. Handling substantially improved, so as braking (all that obvious), the 'clonk' is gone, most of the rattling is. But I still have a remaining 'torsion noise' - hard to explain. It was there before the work, so it's not something new. I say 'torsion' because it sounds like something under the influence of body motion, but no 'metallic' rattling noise as I had before (now gone). Now, when I push down (manually) each side of the car (front), i.e. compressing shocks, there's a squeaky noise. I had that before the work that was done, but don't recall having it when I replaced the shocks back then. I was thinking it was all my other 'rubbers' that were shot. Well I guess it's not. Is this telling me my (yes, cheap) shocks I had replaced back then are already shot? Coil springs issue? It's kind of driving me crazy as with a fully 'redone' front suspension, one would love to enjoy a non-squeaky cat ;-) Thoughts? Cheers

Blue_XJ8,
My XK8 never creaked until I got the front tires changed. I saw the tire store guy jack the car up from one side with a floor jack instead of a lift (this is not recommended, from what I understand, but too late by the time I caught him).
After that my car creaked from the right side whenever turning sharply right to enter a driveway.
Had a mechanic check front end parts several times. Ball joints were okay. Changed a lower control arm as well as both struts and strut upper bushings. Still creaked. Changing parts wouldn't didn't fix it.
Finally I suggested to mechanic that he loosen and retighten my front frame struts under the car (those tubes that add rigidity to the structure). He did. He may have lubed them also.
That fixed it. Have never had a creak since. I suspect the floor jack guy just tweaked my setup enough to cause it to shift out of its happy place, and reseating those stiffness members fixed it.
