Front wheel bearing

Hello
I have noticed a whining from the front drivers side wheel the past week.
I jacked the car up yesterday and did the lateral wheel movement to check the bearing. The wheel moves a bit more than the passenger side when pushing at 9 and 3 position on the tire when its in the air.
My Question is do I have to take the vertical link off?? I am planning on
ordering the abs ring socket.
Do I need a hub holding tool that I have seen others use? (Called an upright?)
Front Wheel Bearing Adapters?
I thank you and appreciate your help!!

You should check for movement by trying to move the wheel at the 12:00 and 6:00 positions. Movement at the 3:00 and 9:00 positions could be cuased by a worn tie rod end. If I remember correctly the spring is in the way of trying to fit the ABS socket between the spring and the back of the vertical link. You may gain enough clearance by releasing the tie rod end to allow the vertical link to pivot away from the spring. I removed the vertical link to replace the bearing

A buddy and I did the front wheel bearings on mine, bigcat 777 helped me out with the abs socket.
My rotors were seized onto the wheel knuckle and I had to replace them anyway so I drilled a couple of holes in the rotor, attached a scrap metal bar with some bolts and you have the perfect locking tool.
One other tip, the bearing race will get stuck on the the spindle so use a chisel to create enough space to get a bearing puller behind it.
You'll also need a heavey duty vice on a table that can't move to get the abs nut off.
I bought two abs nuts just in case I needed to break the old ones off so if you want to go that route message me.
