The front bearings on an X-308 are completely different from an X-300. To answer your question directly, they are the most complicated front bearing replacement job I have ever seen on a rear wheel drive vehicle, You must remove the large ABS ring nut, and press the old bearings off- In my case it put a strain on my 30 ton press before they popped!
There is plenty of good info in the archives if you decide to go for it.

Just had to replace front drivers side bearing and hub about-part 300- from dealer- could have gotten cheaper- but no time

Labor 2.5 to replace- 550 to 600 USD to repair all in

i just did my wife's wheel bearing a few months back on her 03 xj...

Biggest pain in the rear wheel bearing i have EVER done...

I did my porsche a week prior and the front passenger bearing on my porsche took about 45 minutes total time...

the jag took me all day.

here was how I had to do it....

I had to remove the entire carrier. this means seperating the upper and lower ball joints and tie rod end.
you have to remove the brake caliper

i then got it off and had to buy the $200.00 tool to remove the abs ring on the backside.

no one in town had the tool, and the indy an hour away that had one would not remove the ring gear.. he wanted to do the whole job and charge me $600.00 for a flipping bearing....

once i got the tool, i could not get the ring gear off with my 1/2" impact... it just laughed at me.. i heated it, used penetrating fluid,etc.... it mocked me.....

so finally i went to a friends who owns a grading business and used his massive 3/4 impact he uses on his dozers, etc.... It struggled to get it off....

then i could not get the bearing to budge with my 20 ton press.....

had to get a machine shop press out the old and in the new bearing...

so far everything i have done on this car has been a major pita.... don't even get me started about the sadist that designed the alternator mounting position....... ridiculous.....

all said i had the car on jacks for over a week waiting for the tool, etc... and spent about $300.00.

I will never do it again. We had to beat the old ABS ring apart and get it off it was so rusted and stuck on. I purchased a new ring for 2o bucks. Well worth it, but if I had to do it over, I'd go to the junkyard and replace the entire hub assembly rather that beat and bang...PITA!

At $20 for a new ring and $200 for the tool + aggravation, it sounds like a new ring is a no brainer for non-professionals.
