frustrating no start-resolved
1998 xj8 parked all winter...It would start and run perfect one day, not crank the next. Days it ran, it ran perfect. The days it wouldn't run nothing would help.
I had two keys on my fob. Apparently one had lost its programming, the other did not!
There was no error message stating the transponder wasn't communicating, signal at the starter relay but no signal to the solenoid. I won't go ito all the disassembly I did before I figured this out, but it will be a couple days before it is able to return to duty.

Hi WESMC2,
I've got a similar problem but unfortunately I only have the one key, sounds as if the starter is spinning but not engaging. I automatically thought it was sticking, but it's just in too awkward a place to give a tap. Did you find a way of re-programming the key? Perhaps I'd be better off trying that before I take it some where to have the starter replaced.
Any assistance would be gratefully recieved
